Step-by-Step: Updating Your Address with Medicare

Updating Your Address with Medicare

One of the most asked questions in our group is how to change your address with Medicare.

If you move or change addresses (including your suite number), you need to update it with Medicare to prevent any claims from being denied and avoid other billing issues. Here are the steps to take, but as always double-check with your regions MAC:

  • Sign into Identity and Access Management  and update your address

  • Next, you’ll need to fill out the 855 application through PECOS:

    • Use 855i if you’re an individual provider

    • Use 855b if you’re a group

    • Under section 1A, “You are reporting a change to your Medicare enrollment information”

    • Under Section 1B, select “Address Information” and check the appropriate boxes for what you’re changing

    • Go through and answer the questions, update your new address and update the contact person if needed, sign, and submit!

  • Here’s a tutorial from Novitas.

That’s it! Save this email for future use and don’t forget to check out my Medicare courses for more help and my Etsy for my note template that helped me pass an audit
